Spring—Homeward Bound Walk HOMEWARD BOUND - Central Indiana is a five kilometer fundraising walk conducted each year by local homeless and affordable housing groups. Funds raised by this annual event help homeless citizens with shelter, food and other emergency assistance needs. Participating agencies in 2006 include The Abbie Hunt Bryce Home (VNS), Christian Help, Inc., Chrysalis Academy, Coburn Place Safe Haven, Community Action of Greater Indianapolis, Community Addictions Services of Indiana, Community Alliance of the Far Eastside, Inc., Community Foundation of Morgan County, Inc. (supporting Desert Rose Foundation, Inc. and WellSpring Center), The Damien Center, Dayspring Center, Inc., Gennesaret Free Clinic, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Indianapolis, Hawthorne Community Center, Holy Family Shelter, Homeless Initiative Program, Hoosier Veterans Assistance Foundation, Inc., Hope Ministries, Horizon House, Indiana Youth Group, Interfaith Hospitality Network, The Julian Center, Lighthouse Mission, Mary Rigg Neighborhood Center, Midtown Community Mental Health Center, Missionary Connection, Partners In Housing Development Corporation, The Salvation Army Harbor Light Center, School on Wheels, Second Helpings, Stopover, Inc., Tear Down the Walls Ministries, Inc., and Trusted Partner Mentoring. Fall (Sept./Oct.) IHN Annual Dinner Auction IHN is a national program that was founded in 1988 in New Jersey as a community response to homelessness. Indianapolis joined the effort in 1994 and became one of 75 programs nationwide. IHN is a private, non-profit organization largely supported by volunteers, religious organizations, corporations, and foundations. The Network provides temporary shelter, meals, and supportive services to homeless families in the Indianapolis community. This fundraiser will allow IHN to extend its services to these families. December 21st (each year) Homeless Memorial Service Christ Church Cathedral, Monument Circle, Indianapolis, Indiana To recognize homeless neighbors who have passed away during current year. |
