Programs

The Indianapolis Interfaith Hospitality Network provides temporary shelter, meals, and supportive services to single parents and married couples with children. More than thirty hosting congregations open their doors to support and host families in crisis. The congregations host the families on a weekly rotation. Some congregations host the families twice yearly, while other congregations host the families three to four times yearly. On average, approximately 400 volunteer hours are donated per week. Volunteers are responsible for the coordination of van drivers, assembling temporary bedrooms, laundry, food preparation, housekeeping, recreational activities, and overnight hosting. They also provide invaluable fellowship and encouragement to families.

IHN serves approximately 65 families with children per year. This consists of 200 individuals and about sixty percent of those served are children. Seventy-five percent of the families served are single mothers with children.

IHN provides part-time on-site childcare for families in order to provide them the opportunity to search for employment and permanent housing.  Families meet with a case manager daily while in the program to ensure they receive support services and are working towards obtaining housing and employment.
